I'm a storm-god fan, so I'd say that Ishkur would be my favorite. The problem is that since most of our Sumerian literary data come from Nippur, Ur, and Girsu, we're getting a slanted picture of the Sumerian pantheon. What were the myths about the Umma city-god Shara? We just don't know. Same goes for gods of important cities like Adab, Eridu, etc.

I prefer the Lord Marduk myself.I find that everytime I have called upon Him or one of His fifty names,my prayers are always answered.I truely believe that Marduk is a great Lord adn that He is the one whom(I find)is best for prayers getting answered. I plainly just love Marduk and His fifty names!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all. My most revered "favorite" deity is Inanna. She is compelling and fascinating! I am seeking a source for a long-term project I have involving Inanna and HOPE some of you will be able to help me -- I need to find a book or books or website that has sacred Sumerian literature, but also has the cuneiform illustrated. I want to use the cuneiform "characters" together with the translation or, preferably, the transliteration! Prayers, hymns, myths, dedications -- any passages or poetry etc. that refers to Inanna, in cuneiform. I've been searching and researching for some time, but have been able to find only one or two examples of what I want. H E L P !!!!! Many thanks and BTW this is a terrific place to be.

Enki aka Ea. The Lord of the Earth. The Champion of humankind. The master shaper of the world, God of wisdom and of all magic. The goat-fish sign of the Capricorn & the water bearer sign of Aquarius. é-engur-a, the "house of the lord of deep waters"; e-unir or é-abzu, the "house of Abzu."

Inanna. She is my patron deity, She chose me and the more I get to know Her the more I can see what a good match we are. I never call Her by any other name, as I feel Ishtar for instance, is a separate Goddess.

Inanna and Ereshkigal.
My real preferred deity is Tlaloc, but Hes not Mesopotamian.
>I never call Her by any other name, as I feel Ishtar for instance, is a separate Goddess.
Ishtar is merely a Akkadian/Babylonian name for Inanna. They are he same deities. If this were not the case than you'd have to write off all other Babylonian deities as other gods that aren't Sumerian and theres no evidence for that.
Also, some forms of Gilgmesh go back and forth between calling Inanna, Ishtar and calling her Inanna.

As Caemax very well said, Enki Ea is my prefered Lord (as they are not Gods- the god idea is a false one, made up by jews/semites to unite the ignorant folks under one Noose. Enki defied his half brother Enlil several times, and in some others he was made to obey; but in any case, he was a friend of us, and not an harsh ruler as Enlil, that seems to look on man as a inferior race (that we are, of course, but only because of His intervention in : shortening of life span, diseases, the Religion Meme implanted on our brains : to obey and love the Ruler). And to the person who worship this alien beings, PLEASE, don't !They are dead and buried so long ago ! There are not spirits lurking around us; it's only air.

Ishtar cause Ishtar is goddess of fertility and of love. In the anime series of gilgamesh they called her goddess of destruction just like any other women.

I have worshipped Inana for many years now. She is the goddess of sex (especially unusual sex) and violence. War is called melulti Inana: "the play of Inanna" in Babylonian. She received the "me"s of civilization from Enki, and "Without Inana great An makes no decisions, and Enlil determines no destinies." In other words, Holy Inana has taken on the functions of the other Great Gods, she shares her sacred precinct, the Eana in Uruk with An, the head of the pantheon: she is truly a powerful and potent goddess who loves her followers and rains terror on her enemies. Ki-sikil Inana za3-mi2 du3-ga-am3!

Jehovah is my preferred One Thats the anglicised name of YHWH of the jewish/christian and canaanite/phoenician religion. They are not the same as mesopotamian religion. I prefer Enki because I always loved the sea. Also because Enki/Ea is full of wisdom, and I love to learn.
